Community Involvement

Darrell Waltrip Subaru is committed to supporting the community and giving back.  Since we opened our doors in 2009 we have partnered with numerous charities, sponsored many community events and invested thousands of dollars back into the community we call home.  Below are just a few of the events we spearhead each year to continue our support of the individuals and families that make up this extraordinary community.

Darrell Waltrip Subaru is proud to partner with Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC), an public open-intake shelter serving the citizens of Williamson County, Tennessee. The shelter is a county tax-funded agency caring for domestic animals, and in 2014 was named a 2nd place winner in the national ASCPA Rachael Ray Challenge.  The shelter, led by director Laura Chavarria since mid-2013, has implemented a number of programs and initiatives designed to improve animal welfare, increase public awareness and save more animal lives. In 2015, the shelter received 3,082 animals and achieved a milestone with an overall save rate of 95.1%.

Chavarria credits community involvement for the successes at WCAC, saying "Without our friends in the Williamson County business community, as well as our volunteers, we could not accomplish our goals. We love getting out in the community and holding adoption events and fund raisers. It not only gives us more exposure, but helps the business as well."  Chavarria goes on to say that "Darrell Waltrip Automotive Group has been a shelter supporter for several years and has sponsored our annual  pet photos with Santa event and held pet supply collections at the dealership.  Most importantly, DWAG has facilitated our inclusion in the annual Subaru Share the Love contest, resulting in a major annual donation to the shelter."

WCAC has a full-time on-site veterinarian, mobile adoption unit, a public spay/neuter program, annual community rabies clinics, three animal control officers, dog and cat visitation rooms, a free-roaming cat area, pet fosters and over 400 active volunteers.
