Overview
The 2010 Subaru Forester, a four-door five-passenger SUV, is available in five trims - 2.5X, 2.5X Premium, 2.5X Limited, 2.5 XT Premium and 2.5 XT Limited. Like all Subaru models, the 2010 Forester comes equipped with the standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Last year, the Forester was completely redesigned, affordable compact utility vehicle with revised exterior styling, an upgraded interior, additional standard equipment and safety features and was named Sport/Utility of the Year by Motor Trend magazine.
There are a number of options available for the 2010 Forester and the availability varies by trim level. The All-Weather Package includes heated front seats, windshield wiper de-icer and heated exterior mirrors while the GPS navigation system includes AM/FM/CD/DVD, 7-inch LCD touch screen, hands-free Bluetooth phone, auxiliary audio and video input jacks.
Powertrain And Performance
Mainly a carryover model from 2009, the 2010 Forester is powered by a 170-hp 2.5L 4-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine (X trims). The XT trims churn out 224 horsepower from an intercooled turbocharger. All trims have Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The 2.5 X trim comes with a 5-speed manual transmission with Incline Start Assist, while all other trims have a 4-speed automatic with manual shift mode (available on the 2.5 X). Its fuel estimates are 20 mpg in city and 26 mpg on highways.

The 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5X comes with AM/FM stereo with single disc CD player and 4 speakers, (3) 12 volt power outlets, 215/65 R16 96H All-Season tires, Brake Assist, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), daytime running lights, engine immobilizer, carpeted floor mats, multi-functional center console box and sliding arm rest, 60/40 split fold-down rear seat, rear window wiper and washer, remote keyless entry and tilt steering column.
The 2.5X Premium's standard equipment includes all 2.5X model features (where applicable) plus a standard 10-way power driver's seat, 17-inch Alloy Wheels, 225/55 R17 95H All-Season tires, privacy glass, panoramic power moonroof, roof rails, steering wheel mounted audio switches, reclining rear seatback function and rear seat retractable rear tray. The All-Weather Package is optional.
The 2.5X Limited equipped with automatic transmission, includes all 2.5X Premium model features plus leather-trimmed upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter handle, chrome exhaust tips, automatic climate control system, AM/FM stereo with 6-disc changer and 6 speakers, fog lights, cargo floor mat, and All-Weather Package. The GPS Navigation System is optional.
The 2.5XT Premium is equipped with automatic transmission and its standard equipment includes all 2.5X Premium model features (where applicable) plus a 2.5 liter turbocharged engine with Active Valve Control System, decorative engine cover, chrome exhaust tips, fog lights, rear spoiler, telescopic steering column, unique 17-inch alloy wheels, exclusive upholstery, AM/FM stereo with 6-disc changer and 6 speakers and aluminum-alloy accelerator and brake pedal covers.
The 2.5XT Limited is equipped with automatic transmission and features all 2.5XT Premium model features (where applicable) plus leather-trimmed upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter handle, automatic climate control, a 10-way power driver's seat and All-Weather Package. The GPS Navigation System is optional.
Reclining rear seats, retractable rear tray and active front head restrains are standard in the Forester model. The increased rear legroom and rear reclining seats give backseat passengers the best in personalized enjoyment. From groceries and plants to bikes and beyond, the 30 cubic feet of cargo room accommodate all things.
Safety Features
The Forester has a plenty of standard safety equipment, including new curtain side-impact air bags, Electronic Stability Control, 4-Wheel ABS, traction control, daytime running lights, child seat lower anchorage, adjustable upper belt - front, pretensioner, energy management feature, rear center lap/shoulder belt, advanced air bag features, side airbag ? front, head airbag ? front, rear seat head restraint, dynamic head restraint, trunk release and tire pressure monitor.
